In this lesson, we will focus on expressions about expressing a lack of change : まま and っぱなし.
まま is used to express a lack of change. 
Here are the examples of use with verbs :
Ex. ける
      ける
 
It's possible to employ this expression with nouns and adjectives.
 
Some examples :  
 
1) Verbs (in the ta form, た形) + まま 
           ける→けた→けたまま 
2) Nouns +の+まま 
           子供こどものまま 
3) Demonstratives (この、その、あの) + まま 
           この+まま→このまま 
4) Adjectives i+ まま 
           あかるいまま 
5) Adjectives na + まま 
           新鮮しんせんなまま 

 

電気でんきをつけたままにする。
I leave the light on.
 
わたしは、人参にんじんなまのままべる。
I eat raw carrots.
 
商品しょうひんは、このままのおわたしでよろしいですか?
Can I give you the article just like that? (without wrapping it ?)
 
はんあたたかいままで美味おいしい。
Dishes stay warm and delicious.
 
スケジュールは不確実ふかくじつなままだ。

 It is possible de put ない beforeまま to explain the continuity of negation.

Verbs (the forme in nai , ない形) +まま
べる→べない→べないまま
Forme honorifique 尊敬語[そんけいご]

っぱなし

っぱなし is positioned after the conjugated verb but it has a negative connotation.
This expression cannot be used with nouns and adjectives.

Verbs (the form in masu, ます形): stem form + っぱなし 
しますしっぱなし  
まどけっぱなしにしないでください。
 
Don't leave the window open.
 みずしっぱなしだよ。
Watch out!The water is running.
